UNITED NATIONS, May 28 (Xinhua) -- The UN secretary-general's door remains open to Israeli representatives, a UN spokesperson said on Thursday in response to the Israeli UN ambassador's comments.

"I can tell you from the secretary-general's point of view, his door remains open to Israeli representatives, as to the other 192 member states and the two observer states," Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, told a daily briefing when asked about comments by Israel's UN Ambassador Danny Danon that Israel would "have no further contact" with the UN chief.

"We think that member states should engage and continue to engage not only with us, but all the various mechanisms, whether they're part of the SG's executive office, legislative bodies to work together. I think engaging is always a better solution than disengagement," Dujarric said.

Israel will "have no further contact" with the UN secretary-general, Danon said Thursday, after his country was blacklisted by the UN alongside Hamas and other armed groups.

"We're done with this Secretary-General," Danon said on social media platform X.

Israeli entities have been included on a UN blacklist over accusations of sexual violence in conflict zones. ■
