SHANGHAI, July 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 95 ballet dancers from 15 countries will perform in the quarter-final of the 6th Shanghai International Ballet Competition in August.

The competition received 120 applications from all over the world. Among them, 95, including 40 from overseas, were granted qualification into the quarter-final Wednesday.

The dancers come from countries such as China, the United States, Russia, South Africa, Canada, Germany, Japan and Australia.

The quarter-final competition is scheduled for August 3 at Shanghai International Dance Center, followed by the semi-final and final. The whole contest will run until August 11.

The Shanghai International Ballet Competition was launched in 1995.
