SEOUL, March 14 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's automobile export, production and local sales all declined last month on less working days, a government report showed on Thursday.

The number of cars exported was 160,442 in February, down 1.6 percent from a year ago, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

It was attributed to less business days as the Lunar New Year holiday fell in last month.

In terms of value, car export gained 2.7 percent to 2.88 billion U.S. dollars on higher vehicle price. Shipment of car components dipped 2.8 percent to 1.64 billion U.S. dollars.

Automobile production declined 7.1 percent over the year to 257,267 vehicles in February on less working days.

In the domestic market, car sales shrank 4.2 percent to 120,617 units last month. The sale of locally-made cars was down 1.3 percent, while imported vehicle sale tumbled 19.1 percent.
